What is the 'strainer' in the fuel pump assembly?

The picture shows the old strainer and the new strainer. The 'strainer' is a primary filter in the form of a mesh like a plastic material. When we say the fuel filter, that means the built-in fuel filter in the fuel pump assembly, which can not be reused. In general, when replacing the fuel filter, clean the 'strainer' and use the strainer again unless there are any notable defects.
