There is check engine light on my dashboard, what is the problem?

Check engine light (CEL) simply means that there are some issues with the engine. ECM, engine control module normally leaves the detail diagnostic trouble code (DTC) related to the issues in the system. So, use OBD2 or professional scanner and find out the detail DTCs and take appropriate diagnosis and repairs.

Unless otherwise you would feel big differences in driving experiences, it would generally be okay to drive long distance. However, you should check and repair the vehicle as soon as possible to avoid any further complicated issues.
